Join the DLS crew for our second annual unofficial trail marathon+ from Donner Summit to Ward Canyon (Tahoe City)
DateSaturday, August 2, 2014
- Marathon+ (Donner Summit to Ward Canyon, 28 mi)
- Half-Marathon (Donner Summit to Squaw Valley via Shirley Lake, 13 mi)
- Team Relay (3 team members, with switch-outs at Shirley Lake and Five Lakes)
TimeMarathon+ and Half-Marathon meet at Donner Summit (ASI/Sugar Bowl Academy) at 7am. Relay runners will need to estimate depending on their team.
CourseThe Donner Dash course follows the Pacific Crest Trail from Donner Summit all the way to Twin Peaks. Here, the course takes a left (downhill) turn to finish in Ward Canyon. *Please note that map to the right shows the trail finishing at the Tahoe Rim Trail trailhead in Ward Canyon, but this year we have re-routed the course to finish at the Stanford Rock trailhead in Ward Canyon!* The course is very straightforward, but will be unmarked; if you feel the need for a map, we recommend the Lake Tahoe Basin Trail Map, which covers the entire course.
Check out photos of the course and current conditions on Flickr!
CostThis is a free event, although we'd love for you to register so we can plan the aid station and finish line snacks accordingly. For $15, we are offering a shuttle ride from Ward Canyon back to Donner Summit, plus an event T-shirt. Please see below for payment details.
Aid StationShirley Lake trail junction, at mile 10, will have electrolyte snacks and a human or two to rally you on. Five Lakes will host a second aid station, and has a source for water (from the creek). There will also be refreshments at the finish in Ward Canyon. Half-marathon finishers are on their own, but also end right in Squaw Valley.
WaterCarry your own, and refill from creeks at Mile 9 and Mile 15 (bring iodine or other purification tablets if you are concerned).

we're full for the Dash this year! Thank you so much for your interest, and check back next summer... SIDENOTE: even though the Dash is full, the PCT is not. Feel free to even more unofficially join the event and run with us, but we unfortunately cannot provide transportation.
